Graveside services for Dorothy Oleta Shaw Becktold, 87, of Early, Texas will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 2, 2013 at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Mrs. Becktold passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 in Brownwood.

Dorothy was born December 27, 1925 in Lubbock, TX to Marshall Roland and Cora Parker Shaw. She grew up in Elkhart, TX and graduated from Elkhart High School. She then came to Brownwood where she graduated from the business college and met Jessie Howard Becktold. They were married February 20, 1947. She was a member of Early First Baptist where she served as church secretary for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Jessie Howard Becktold of Early; a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Patricia Becktold of Early; a daughter and son-in-law Suzann and Arnulfo Nira of Knoxville, TN; a daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Joe Green of Early; a daughter and son-in-law Oleta and Ray McClain of Arlington; a son and daughter-in-law Duane and Toni Becktold of Early. Grandchildren, Michael Becktold of Arlington; David Becktold of Early; Anthony, Andrew, Samantha and Simona Nira of Knoxville, TN; Bob and Steph Green of Zephyr; Rebekah and Dakota Dean of Early; Benjamin and Julie McClain of Dallas; Natalie and Zach Longstrom of Arlinton; Melissa McClain of Arlington; Dustin and Sidney Becktold of Early. Great-Grandchildren, Abigail and Miriam Dean; Damian Longstrom and Caroline McClain. Dorothy is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law J.C. and Dolores Shaw of Bryan; a sister Margaret Farmer of College Station, sisters-in-law Edith Shaw of Bryan and Dorothy Shaw of Conroe, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Cora Shaw, brothers Lynn and Homer Shaw.

The family would like to thank Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home and Girling Hospice for the care and love shown to her.
