Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 10, 1915, she was the daughter of Fred and Eva (Comeau) Guettler. She moved to Albany, N.Y., as a child with her family and attended Albany schools. She was a graduate of Albany High School with the Class of 1934. She came to North Adams in 1937 and resided here until moving to Williamstown in 1985.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, North Adams.
She was a longtime member of the Naomi Chapter 17, Order of the Eastern Star, North Adams, and the Mount Anthony Chapter 1, Order of the Eastern Star, Bennington, Vt., a member of the Grand Cross of Color, the Ancient and Honorable Society of Royal Arch Widows, Daughters of the Nile, and the Briggsville Women's Club.
She enjoyed baking, sewing and crocheting for many local charities.
Her husband, Donald E. Crews, whom she married June 18, 1941, died Sept. 11, 1999.
She leaves three nieces, Nancy Luczynski of Stamford, Vt., Laureen Richards and Dorothy Wetteland, both of North Adams; two nephews, David Crews of Pasadena, Md., and James Crews of North Adams; a brother-in-law, Clayton Crews of North Adams; four grandnieces, three grandnephews and a great-grandniece.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Dorothy Crews will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 10 a.m., in the Augé-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, North Adams, with the Rev. Edward A. King, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, North Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berkshire Fuel Assistance Program or the Berkshire Food Pantry, through the funeral home, 46 N. Church St., North Adams, Mass. 01247.
