Sarah Elizabeth (Bennett) Alcombright, 83, of 1 Summit St., Whitinsville, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at the Continuing Care Center at Hopedale, Hopedale, where she was admitted Jan. 16.
Born in Adams on April 30, 1920, she was a daughter of Russell and Sarah (Blanchard) Bennett. She attended Adams schools.
She was last employed at the former Clark Biscuit Co., North Adams, for several years. Earlier, she was employed at the Sprague Electric Co., North Adams. She had resided in Whitinsville for the past three years. She was a longtime resident of North Adams prior to her move there.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams, and enjoyed bingo, crocheting and her family.
Her husband, Raymond G. Alcombright, whom she married Aug. 26, 1938, died March 2, 1996.
She leaves two sons, Raymond Alcombright and his wife, Patricia, of Bennington, Vt., and Robert Alcombright and his wife, Peggy, of Mount Crawford, Va.; three daughters, Shirley Dolle and her husband, Carl, of Stamford, Vt., Brenda Cugini and her husband, Theodore, with whom she made her home in Whitinsville, and Deborah Kelly of Cohoes, N.Y.; two sisters, Louise Moody of Saranac, N.Y., and Evelyn Maynard of Clarksburg; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Raymond Bennett, Russell Bennett and Henry Wright; two sisters, Millie Salvato and Mabel Charrow; and three grandchildren, Carl W. Dolle Jr., David J. Kelly, and B.J. Cone, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Sarah Alcombright will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 11 a.m., from the Augé-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, North Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon in St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours are Tuesday, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire, Inc., through the funeral home, 46 N. Church St., North Adams, Mass. 01247.
