Ben Scott Dodson, age 73, a resident of Albuquerque, NM. for over 50 years, went to be with the Lord his Savior on Friday, November 29, 2013.
Ben is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene J. Dodson of Albuquerque, NM, children, Kirbye Davis of Albuquerque, NM, Richard Dodson and his wife, Christine of Gatesville, TX, Rochelle Seale and her husband, Larry of Moriarty, NM, Dr. Douglas Dodson and his wife, Becky of Alamogordo, NM, Debbie Torres-Rioux and her husband, Andre of Rio Rancho, NM, Scott Dodson of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Daniel Dodson and his wife, Dr. Geetanjali Dodson of West Palm Beach, FL and Marlys Vespe and her husband, Fred of San Diego, CA, twenty-one grandchildren, Tommy and his wife, Kendra, James and his wife, Loni and Ryan, Katie, Cody and Brittney, Heather and her husband, Michael, Vanessa and her husband, Mike, and Danielle and her husband, Gavin, Samantha, Emily, and Ben, Savannah and Alexandria, Kellen, McKenzie and Ashley, and Alan, Audrey, David and Kelly, thirteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Becky Stewart and her husband, Ken of Texarkana, TX and Carol Ledon and her husband, Ox of El Paso, TX and numerous other relatives and friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Carol Dodson, grandmother, Dora Scott and grandson-in-law, Dominique Smith.
Ben was born in 1940 in Quitaque, TX and graduated from Highland High School, Class of 1958.
Ben honorably served in the United States Navy on the USS Coral Sea. Ben worked for Mountain Bell and retired from U.S. West.
Ben was an active member of Grace Church, serving as an elder, mentor and Sunday School Teacher for fifty years.
Ben was an avid fisherman, teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and a Dallas Cowboys fan. Ben always lived his life an example of his faith in God and instilled this faith in all of his children. Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place with military honors at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ben's memory to Grace Church, Rivers of Mercy Children's Home Fund, 6901 San Antonio Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
