She was born in Wellsville on April 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Ralph and Pauline Clager Wooley, and had remained in this area the rest of her life.
Although she also worked at Moutaineer Race Track some time ago, Alice spent most of her working life surrounded by young people, both as a crossing guard and as a cafeteria aide for the city's school district. She loved following all the "kids" she had over the years, especially in their various sporting events, and had been a member of the East Liverpool Rebound Club at one time.
She had attended the LaCroft Church of the Nazarene and Hope Christian Fellowship.
Alice was preceded in death in 1950 by her first husband, Robert Colven. She then married Charles Higgins on May 18, 1951, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2010.
Three daughters and one son survive her: Sheila Hoffman and her husband, Huff; Karen Bott and her husband, Howard; Flossie K. "Flo" Miller and her husband, William, and Charles Higgins, Jr., all of East Liverpool. Alice's son, Richard Higgins, passed away on February 18, 2006.
There are twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Margaret Hack of St. Petersburg, FL, and a brother-in-law, Roger Higgins and his wife, Mary Lou, of Tiltonsville, OH. Alice was also preceded in death by two great-grandsons, a sister, and a brother.
She also leaves behind her companion, Kenneth Walker, of East Liverpool.
Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
