Anna E. Hoehnke, 94, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003, at her rural Valders home where she resided with her daughter the past 14 years.

She is the former Anna Barts born July 19, 1908 at her family home in the town of Herman, daughter of the late William and Anna Winkel Barts. She attended school in Howards Grove.

On Oct. 8, 1929 Anna married Elmer Hoehnke at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. The couple farmed in the town of Rhine until retiring in 1974. Her husband, Elmer, preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1988.

Survivors include one daughter, Flora (Allen) Koeppen of Valders; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death, Harry, Ervin and Edgar Barts, and one sister, Selma Voss.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Mieselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 Sixth St., Kiel, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
