Frederick O. Miller

Frederick O. Miller, 86, Altoona, died peacefully Thursday morning.
He was born in Hastings, son of the late Peter and Dorothy (Sutton) Miller. He married Mary Jean Stuart on May 2, 1953, in Spangler, and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2005.
Surviving are three sons: James F. (Deborah) and Thomas O. (Valencia), both of Altoona, and Peter S. (Melissa) of Sproul; and three grandchildren: Christopher and wife, Trisha, Olivia and Ethan.
He was the last of his family and was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
Fred was a 1947 graduate of Hastings High School and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been a driver for Hastings Bottling Works, retired as a driver and salesman from Maierhofer Bakery after many years of service, and also drove a school van for Altoona Area School District.
Fred was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and a life member of Hastings Volunteer Fire Company. He also belonged to the Keystone Boom Klackers and Hastings VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed golf, bowling and watching "Pawn Stars."
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church by Father D. Timothy Grimme. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Hastings.
