Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel. The interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born April 23, 1935, to the late Robert and Ellen Baker and was honored by the fact that the Baker's were one of the largest families in Johnston County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was in the beauty supply business for over 25 years in Greenville before owning Baker Beauty Supply, Inc. in Greensboro.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Fayette Harrell Baker; son, J Paul Baker, Jr. and wife Alana of Ocala, Fla.; daughter, Beth Baker Lucas of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Wesley J. Baker, of Ocala, Kenneth S. Lucas, Jr., John Paul Lucas and Hannah Elizabeth Lucas, all of Greensboro; brothers, Odis H. Baker of Smithfield, Joseph K. Baker of Newport, Hugh Aubrey Baker, also of Smithfield, Billy Ray Baker of Cave Junction, Ore.; and sister, Ann B. Russell of Benson.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by many other brothers and sisters and most recently by his brother, Landis D. Baker, of Four Oaks.
