He was born November 5, 1924, the first child of Robert A. and Ellen Baker. His parents and most of his 20 siblings predeceased him. For many years he and his former wife owned Doris' Day Care in West Smithfield. He retired from the Department of Corrections, then kicked off his retirement career as a fixer-upper of appliances. What he dearly loved was traveling. He visited every state except Hawaii, with Alaska being his favorite, and every Canadian province. Forced by age to give up camping, he loved cruises, seeing the shows at Myrtle Beach, the Grand Ole Opry-he loved to go. And everywhere he went, he made friends. His health declined rapidly, but he accepted his lot without complaint.
He joins his beloved daughter Verna Prock, who died in 2002 and a granddaughter Katlyn Bell.
