Jack was the son of Joseph Rabinovitz and Reva Rabinovitz of Dorchester MA and he enlisted in the US Marine Corps on April 4 1963 in Boston MA. In Vietnam he was serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

On February 14, south of Hill 190 in the Ho Vang District of Quang Nam Province the lead Amtrac enroute to an operation detonated a hidden mine in a depression in the roadway causing a massive explosion and fire. The explosion killed five Marines, twenty two men were wounded including a US Navy Corpsman and an ARVN Interpreter, and four Marines would later die of their wounds.

Cpl Rabinovitz was one of the casualties, evacuated to the NSA Navy Hospital in Da Nang then transferred to the USNH in Oakland CA he died on February 23, 1966 as a result of extreme burns he had sustained from the hostile explosion.
