Sophus Agustus "Gus" Bang was born in Sæbygård, Volstrup sogn, Dronninglund, Hjørring, Denmark.
Volstrup was the Parish Church where his great-granddaughter found his birth/baptism records.
There is a family plot for the Bangs. Oluf Lundt Bang and Georgina Gordon MacDougall Bang were Gus' parents. His elder brother, Wilhelm (William) Frederik Eduard August Bang and Sophus Joachim Vilhelm Bang (Sophus Joachims' wife was Rogene "Jinnie" Bakule. Not sure where she is buried) , are both buried at Springwell. When I first found Gus' birth record and it showed his first name as Sophus, it really confused me. But, after doing extensive ancestry.com stuff, I have found that some families gave their sons the same first name and a different middle name. Not sure why the other boys were different. His brother Frederik Oluf Julian MacDougall (though the marriage license and gravestone have him listed as Frederick G Bang) and his wife, Melissa Jane "Mabsie" Knapp Bang are buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Omaha. He also had a sister, Elisabeth Frederikke Oluffa Sophie "Lizzie" Bang Hall, wife of Eugene B Hall, though I do not know when they died or where they were buried. It was interesting to find that Gus was married to Mabel May (or Mae) Knapp while Fred was married to Melissa Jane "Mabsie" Knapp. Mabel remarried after Gus' death to Emil C Wagner, both buried at Westlawn-Hillcrest in Omaha.
