Funeral services for Merlin C. Parks, 80, of 222 Leavy Ave., Clearfield, who died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1991, at the Altoona General Hospital, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. William Norman officiating.
Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 and until the hour of service Monday.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and V. F. W. Posts.
Born on June 16, 1911, in Woodland, he was the son of Benjamin A. and Flora Ann (Wisor) Parks.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator who worked in construction and coal mining.
He was a member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church, the John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 of the American Legion and an honorary member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, the former Minnie P. Thompson, whom he married on April 17, 1937, and five children: Mrs. Trenna Crissman, Gilbert, Ariz.; Robert M., Clearfield; Richard C., Hyde; Mrs. Charles (Laree) Fuch, Henderson, Nev.; and Mrs. Larry (Margaret) Wilsoncroft, Olanta R.D.
Also surviving are grandchildren, and one brother, Clair, Franklin; and five sisters: Mrs. Beatrice Dougherty, Sykesville; Mrs. Mary Steib, Bellflower, Calif.; Mrs. Lee (Erma) Confer, West Milton; Mrs. Carl (Verna) Fundanish, Coalport; and Mrs. Mary Jane Locket, Franklin.'
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, two sisters, Verda Wilsoncroft and Grace Potts; and one brother, Lloyd.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the Clearfield Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
