Virgil L. Vesey 82, resident of Palo Alto for 50 years passed away on July 1, 2008 in San Ramon, CA. He was born on June 6, 1926 in Kansas. He spent his career as a painting contractor with over 40 years in the industry. He married Margaret H. Vesey on July 9, 1949 until August of 1987 and they had two sons. Some of his many accomplishments were being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in WWII where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, a California state contractor, and a pilot who flew a private plane across the U.S. and back starting in California. He also enjoyed fishing and was a coach for Palo Alto Little League and Babe Ruth. He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Vesey; sisters, Rosetta Koller, Chris Johnson, and Bessie Lee. He is survived by sisters, Fern Hoffman, and Ina Mae Levering; son, Roger Vesey; daughter in law, Mary Vesey; grand daughters, Leah Peters, Christina Harrison, Laura Berg; stepdaughter, Martha VanDyke; and great grand daughters Nicole, Maia, and Alexandria and companion, Ruth Travers. A viewing will be held at Roller Hapgood & Tinney, 980 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto, CA on Wednesday, July 9th from 6 to 8pm. A graveside service will be held at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, 695 Arastradero Rd., Palo Alto, CA on Thursday, July 10th at 2pm. All memorial contributions can be made to Palo Alto Little League or Palo Alto Babe Ruth League.
