Obituary

"The axe-man death deals right and left,
And flowers fall as well as oaks,
So Nella Kate blooms no more,
And that's the matter with our folks."

These words would answer the Question that one would ask upon entering the once happy home of Mr. H. C. Mullenix and beholding the sad and sorrowful countenances of the inmates. Kate the youngest daughter, was born September 30th, 1862, and died October 3d, 1893. She never was blessed with a strong constitution and was thus deprived of many of the pleasures that life had for the young, but for this she was never known to murmur. She united with the M. E. Church during the winter of 1877, and since her desire has been to live a Christian life. Within the last year her health began to fail, and all that kind parent and loving friend could do was done but it was of no avail. Kate was hopeful all along of recovery, but, when interrogated in regard to death she replied, "I only desire to live for father's sake. He will be oh, so lonely ! " Indeed, he will be lonely. No wife, no daughter, But, the thought that he can meet them in the
future is cheering. The funeral services were held at the Prospect M. E Church, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Dart, after which her remains were laid beside those of her mother and sister, in the Prospect cemetery.
