Capt. Mark "Tyler" Voss died on Friday, May 3, 2013, near Chon-Aryk, Kyrgyzstan in the crash of a KC-135 aircraft. He was part of the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Tyler was born December 16, 1985. He graduated from Boerne High School in 2004 and from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2008 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was commissioned in the U. S. Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He received his wings March 2010, having graduated from pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas, where he received a training award for having the highest score in his class on flight check rides.

He was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington where he flew KC-135 Stratotankers. He was promoted to Captain on May 28, 2012, and became Aircraft Commander on March 14, 2013.

He is survived by his parents, brother, and sister.

Funeral services with full Military Honors were held Friday, May 17, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Boerne, Texas. Interment took place November 18, 2013, in a joint grave with the other crew members killed in the crash, Capt. Victoria Ann Pinckney and TSgt Herman "Tre" Mackey III.
