Golda was the daughter of David William Hug and Mary Elizabeth Choate. Golda was born 5 Nov 1890 in Elgin, Union Co., Oregon.

On 24 Apr 1913 at Union Co., Oregon Golda married William Duncan Gilkey who was born October 7, 1887 to William Elbert Gilkey and Mary Dunham. He died February 13, 1961. They had five children: Stanford, Norman, Frances, Lenore and Lionel.

Stanford was placed in a state facility, orphanage.

Norman, Frances and Lenore grew up in the Oregon-Washington Pythian Home in Vancouver, Washington.

Lionel was placed in a home for the Feeble-minded.

William divorced Golda. William married a second time, unknown name.

Golda was committed to the Oregon State Insane Hospital and shows up on a 1930 Census and in 1940 Golda was at the Eastern Oregon Mental Hospital. Golda spent her entire life as a ward of Oregon State. When she died she was living, as a welfare ward, at Columbia Retirement Center in St. Helens, Oregon. There is nothing to tell how she came to be placed there, except that she did have a state caseworker. Golda died at this retirement home and was buried in an unmarked grave at Columbia Memorial Cemetery, Scappoose, Oregon.
