Bobby G. "Bob" Roberts, a retired Prudential Insurance agent for over 30 years and a longtime area resident, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 74. The son of the late Rev. Fred and Nora Ross Roberts, he was born Oct. 14, 1931 in Charlotte, N.C. He was a veteran serving in the US Air Force (1950-1954); 50-year member of Moulton Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, deacon and chairman deacon for 47 years; volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh; past president of Newburgh Kiwanis Club; and part time driver for Recreation Dept. A family statement reads, "He was a beloved husband, wonderful daddy and B.J. to his loving grandchildren and a wonderful friend to all who knew him." Survivors include his wife, Marie Johnson Roberts at home; daughters, Debbie Osborn of Newburgh, Nancy Ferguson and husband Michael of Newburgh; brother, Earl Lee Roberts of Hickory, N.C.; three grandchildren, Lindsey Roberts, Amy Marie Osborn, Shawn H. Ferguson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his son, David Wayne Roberts on Connecticut and brother, Charles H. Roberts. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2 from 4-8 p.m. at Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, 54 Old Little Britain Rd., town of Newburgh. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March — at the church with the Rev. Jack Hyatt officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
