Funeral arrangements for 1st Lt. Alan Frederick Aertker, USAF, 25, a former Fort Worth resident who died Thursday when the plane he was navigating on a routine trainging mission crashed over northern Germany, will be announced by Harveson & Cole.

Aertker was an honor student and 1970 graduate of Nolan High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and track.

He received a four-year academic scholarship to Texas A&M University, where he graduated as a distinguished military student and accounting major in 1974. He was commissioned as a second lieutentant in the Air Force at graduation.

Aertker was stationed at England Air Force Base for almost two years, serving as an auditor, and recently served as a navigator of RF4 reconnaissance planes at Alconbury, England.

He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal in 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Lt. Jean Henderson Aertker, and daughter, Katherine Jane Aertker, both of Alconbury. Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Aertker of Fort Worth; four brothers, Rowland Aertker of Boston, Mass., Roger Aertker of Austin, Larry Aertker and Mark Aertker, both of Fort Worth; a sister, Donna Aertker of Fort Worth; and his grandfather, Leslie B. Case of New Orleans, La.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Alan F. Aertker Memorial Fund, Class of '74, Texas A&M Development Office, Texas A&M University, College Station.
