AUSTIN - Roger Case Aertker, 49, a physician, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 1998, as a result of bone marrow cancer.

Funeral Mass: was at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Austin's Catholic Church. Private graveside service: Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, Box 149100, Austin, Texas 78714; or St. Vincent de Paul Society, 2026 Guadalupe St., Austin, Texas 78705.

Dr. Roger Case Aertker was born March 23, 1949, in Baton Rouge, La., and grew up in Fort Worth, where he was a 1967 graduate of Nolan Catholic High School. After attending the University of Texas at Austin, he received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston in 1974.

Dr. Aertker interned at Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

He completed his internal medicine residency at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. He spent two years in the National Health Service in West Memphis, Ark., before he opened a private practice in Austin from 1980 to 1993. For the last four years, Dr. Aertker was the medical director of the Austin State Hospital.

In his personal and professional life, Roger was known for his compassion and kindness toward all. Roger was respected for his knowledge and dedication to the practice of medicine. He took great care to see that things were done the right way. A unique and decent man, his death leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those who knew him.

Dr. Aertker was a member of the Austin Society of Internal Medicine and was very active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Survivors: A loving husband, father and son, he is survived by his wife, Peggy Wagner Aertker, and their daughters, Evelyn, Anna and Alice; his parents, Donald and Peggy Aertker of Fort Worth; grandfather, Leslie Bennet Case of Mandeville, La.; brother, Rowland Aertker and his wife, Eileen Kavy; sister, Donna Aertker Wright and her husband, Dr. James H. Wright; brother, Lawrence Aertker and his wife, Jeanne Kaska Aertker; brother, Mark Aertker and his wife, Mirtha Gomez Aertker; and sister-in-law, Jean Henderson Aertker, wife of his deceased brother, Alan Aertker.
