Born in Chicago, Ill., on March 23, 1915, she was the daughter of Thomas and Rosalie (Sroka) Pado. She returned with her family to Poland as a child. She attended schools in Chicago and Poland, and moved back to the United States as a young woman. She had lived in Adams since 1939.
Mrs. Gliwski last worked at Sprague Electric Co., North Adams, for 10 years, until retiring in 1977. Earlier, she had worked for many years at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co., Adams.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams.
She enjoyed cooking, especially Polish foods.
Her husband, Stanley M. Gliwski, whom she married on April 24, 1939, died Dec. 10, 2000.
She leaves two sons, Stanley Gliwski Jr. and Daniel Gliwski, both of North Adams; two brothers, Frank Pado of Dalton and John Pado of Montrose, Colo.; a half-sister, Jozefa Panek of Poland; three grandsons, Matthew and Michael Gliwski, both of North Adams, and Trevor Gliwski of Naples, Fla.; two great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
A grandson, Scott Gliwski, died July 18, 1988.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary Gliwski will be held Wednesday morning, July 16, 11:45 a.m., from the Augé-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, with the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus and Notre Dame & St. Thomas, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Tuesday, 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church through the funeral home.
