Fred H. Allen son of Eugene A. and Melvina Clapp Allen was born July 16, 1875 in Ontario, Iowa and died Dec. 16 at his home in Eagle Grove at the age of 86 years and 5 months.

His family moved to Wright County in 1878 and settled on a farm south of Eagle Grove. He helped on his father's farm, taught school and worked in the Woolstock State Bank and in the Smith Brother's Bank in Eagle Grove.

He was married to Grace Mickleson on April 21, 1909. They lived their married life on the farm south of Eagle Grove until they moved to town in February 1951.

He was president of the Troy school board, secretary of the Troy board of trustees and of the Farmer's Cooperative Company.

He was appointed corn sealer for Troy and Woolstock townships in 1937 and held that position until he resigned in December of 1938.

He was a member of the Methodist church and the Masonic organizations, Bower Lodge to Za Ga Zig Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters, Lucile and Carol, two sons, Arle and Harry, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lewis Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews.
