MARVIN L. BIRCH

COLD BROOK - CANDOR - Mr. Marvin L. Birch, of Route 8, Cold Brook and formerly of Candor, died on July 13, 1996 at home with his family at his side.

Mr. Birch was born in Danby on September 3, 1910, a son of the late Parker and Hattie Van Order Birch.

He graduated from Candor Central School and was married to the former Florence Scharf, who preceded him in death many years ago. He later married Velma Andrews of Candor.

Mr. Birch was employed as a plumber for many years and until fairly recently, had worked at the Catatonk Golf Course near Owego. Marvin, who was also an avid golfer, enjoyed his time spent on the golf course where he took great pride in his meticulous groundskeeping, The lawn at Cold Brook attests to the fact that he never lost his interest and skill in this area.

Survivors include: one daughter, Patsy Evans, with whom he resided in Cold Brook; one son, Raymond Birch of Lexington, Ky; one brother, George Birch of Canisteo; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Sally Luciani and Arlene Urbanski.

He also leaves two special people, Velma Birch of Candor and Carol Young of Cold Brook.

Mr. Birch was predeceased by two brothers, David and Leslie Birch.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a Graveside Service on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Candor. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport, were Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
