1926-2013 CLARKSBURG Mr. Donald Kirkwood Primmer, 86, of 861 East Rd. died Friday March 29, 2013 at Williamstown Commons.

He was born in North Adams on June 17, 1926, son of Daniel and Jennie (Brown) Primmer. He attended local schools.

Donald was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of operations.

He was a carpenter by trade and was first employed by the former Gordon and Sutton Contractors and then worked with Renau Construction until his retirement.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Donald was a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post #125 American Legion in North Adams and was a member of the carpenter's union. He enjoyed travel, especially to Aruba and Hawaii.

Survivors include his wife, the former Doris M. Brooks, whom he married on September 2, 1950 in the former Notre Dame du Sacre Couer Church; three daughters, Donna Bernardi of Colorado Springs, Colo., Beverly Kirby and her husband, Daniel of Stamford, Vt., and Suzanne Cahoon and her husband, Wayne of Hampstead, N.C.; one son, William Primmer and his wife, Patricia of Stamford, Vt.; 10 grandchildren, Kathryn Barnhardt and her husband William, Elizabeth Peloquin and her husband Edward, Sarah McAfee and her husband Ryan, Lindsey Jenness and her husband Ian, Christopher Bernardi and his wife Nicole, John Kirby, Thomas Primmer, Colton Primmer, Laura Kirby, and Cody Primmer; five great-grandchildren, Catelynn, Reed, Benjamin, Isabella, and Chase; a sister, Elizabeth Gorman of Williamstown; and nieces and nephews.

One sister, Annabelle Metcalf, and three brothers, Louis, Weston, and Daniel Primmer, are deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Donald Primmer will be celebrated Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI0MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, are Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
