Mrs. Susan D. Shields, wife of Wm.
S. Shields, died at her home along
the Emmitsburg road, about a mile
from Gettysburg, on Wednesday
from typhoid fever, aged 47 years, 4
months and 18 days. She was a
daughter of Mrs. Lovina Tressler of
Emmitsburg, Md., and the late Isaac
Tressler. She was born in Frederick.
Md., and spent her early life
there, the family later moving to
Wilmington, Del. Besides her
mother. Mrs. Shields Is survived by
her husband and the following children:
Arthur H. and William I.
Shields of Gettysburg, and Clarence
B., John H., Carrie M., Susan C,
Goldie M. and Ruth Evelyn, all at
home. The following brothers and
sisters also survive: Grant, Ananias
and Jesse Tressler, and Mrs. Grace
Gamble of Wilmington, Del., Daniel
Tressler, Chester Tressler and Mrs.
Jennie Eyler, Mrs. Mary Wetzel and
Miss Lucy Tressler of Emmitsburg.
Md. The funeral will be held Sunday
afternoon at one o'clock by Dr.
R. S. Oyler with interment in Evergreen
Cemetery.
