Ernst "Ernie" Blaser, 95 years old, passed away, on October 13, 2013 after a short time following a fall resulting in a fractured hip. He was born, October 2, 1918, in Bern, Switzerland to Walter Blaser and Lina Schorri. He played soccer in his youth which resulted in his notable broken nose that was never set. He studied brick-laying in school and became very skilled in his trade. He served in the Swiss Army which is a lifelong commitment. He was born into the LDS church and met his future wife, Lina Ruf, at the local branch. They were married March 16, 1946 and had a daughter, Heidi, two years later. He became an Elder and served in the branch presidency as well as various other positions. In 1950, the family immigrated with a small group of LDS members, to Utah. Ernst's family settled in Ogden, UT, where another daughter, Susan was born. He worked as a brick layer for several businesses until he eventually created his own business as a Masonry Contractor. His work was well known for perfection, skill and excellence. Fireplaces were his specialty. He, his wife, and daughter Heidi, were sealed on January 20, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. He continued to serve in church callings and his full bass voice was welcomed in ward choirs.

Ernie had a love for the outdoors, taking his daughters hunting and fishing. He also spent many years fishing and going on day driving trips with his lifelong best friend Bruno Ingold. Ice Hockey was his true love and he never missed a Golden Eagles game, even taking his wheelchair bound wife for many years. His love for his wife cannot be measured because he felt truly blest to have been married to her, feeling she was a gift sent to him from heaven. Ernie took care of her physical needs for 10 years before she passed away on May 9, 1995. He was well versed in classical music and the Masters. He would drive to Jackson Hole every summer to enjoy the outdoor musical concerts for many years. He loved Disneyland after going there for the first time when he turned 80 and went 5 more times after that. He dearly loved America, and felt it was the best move he could have made. Ernie enjoyed life to the end.

Ernie is survived by daughters, Heidi Koford, Sunset; Susan Burns (Gordon) North Ogden; six grandchildren, Jenny (KC) Charlesworth, Brianna Larsen, Joel Petersen, Jacob (Holli) Burns, Josh Koford, and Kelsey Burns; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jayden, Whitney, Casey, Angie, Kate, and Selby and great-great-grandson, Braxton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lina, parents, sister Emmy Dappen, brother Hans Blaser, nephew Rolph Dappen, and great-grandson, Anton Koford.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
