PRESCOTT, ARIZ - Brenda Jo Dabbs, 69, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away Oct.19, 2013.

She was born in Lubbock and graduated from Southland High School and Texas Tech University. She taught school in Dallas and then moved to Los Angeles, where she was a demonstration teacher at the UCLA lab school.

In 1984 she married David Hartke, and together they resided in Los Angeles, Durango, Colorado, and finally in Prescott, Ariz. She enjoyed helping others while volunteering with many organizations.

A private burial service was held at Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey-Humboldt, Ariz. A memorial celebration will be held on Nov. 16, at the Hassayampa Inn in Prescott, Ariz.

She is survived by her husband, David; and her brothers, Travis, Gerald, and David. We will all miss her cheerful manner and zest for life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or the Yavapai Humane Society.
