He was born in Lake County, Mich., on Dec. 28, 1898, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard Raymond. He attended school in Michigan. He served in the US Coast Guard on the Great Lakes prior to World War I, and in the Navy during the war. After World War I, he spent some time with the US Merchant Marine.
On Dec. 10, 1921 he married the former Neva Ruckle at Big Rapids, Mich. The couple moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was employed in a furniture factory until 1939. At that time they moved to Sheboygan, where Mr. Raymond was employed as an assistant superintendent of the R-Way Furniture Co. until his retirement in 1965.
He was a member of Hope Reformed Church and Barracks 2091 of World War I Veterans.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Harold of Minneapolis, and Richard of Sheboygan; four daughters, Mrs. William (Mary Jane) Hertzberg of West Bend, Mrs. Russell (June) Snipes of Greensboro, NC, and Mrs. Barbara Hoffmann and Mrs. Allan (Sue) Jurss, both of Sheboygan; two brothers, Miles and Raymond of Luther, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Belle Carver of Big Rapids, Mich, and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son in infancy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hope Reformed Church, with Rev. Paul DeVries, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
