LUNSFORD, Maybelle, age 93, resident of Montgomery died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Cedars assisted living home. She is survived by one son, Garland Hill of Montgomery; Brothers, Jack Carson, Lonnie Carson and Bonnie Carson all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Lunsford will be held at a later date in Oklahoma. Leak Memory Chapel Directing.
'Montgomery Advertiser' (Montgomery, AL) Dec. 15, 2006.

Maybelle first married Mr. Hill and second Lonnie A. Lunsford on June 28, 1943 in Sebastian Co., AR.

The week that Aunt Maybelle died, central Oklahoma was hit by a severe winter ice storm which took down trees, power lines, closed the airport in OKC, etc. Her body was cremated in Alabama and later her son "Buster" Hill brought her ashes to OKC and a graveside service was held for her at the Sunny Lane Cemetery.

Her cremated remains were placed beside her beloved husband Lonnie Lunsford. For many years while living in Montgomery, Maybelle would send a $40 check to relatives in Oklahoma to place "a dozen roses" on the grave of her husband Lonnie every Memorial Day.
