Maybelle first married Mr. Hill and second Lonnie A. Lunsford on June 28, 1943 in Sebastian Co., AR.
The week that Aunt Maybelle died, central Oklahoma was hit by a severe winter ice storm which took down trees, power lines, closed the airport in OKC, etc. Her body was cremated in Alabama and later her son "Buster" Hill brought her ashes to OKC and a graveside service was held for her at the Sunny Lane Cemetery.
Her cremated remains were placed beside her beloved husband Lonnie Lunsford. For many years while living in Montgomery, Maybelle would send a $40 check to relatives in Oklahoma to place "a dozen roses" on the grave of her husband Lonnie every Memorial Day.
