William Seel was the son of an immigrant father born in Germany in ABT 1783 and a mother born in (West) Virginia in ABT 1786. He married Nancy Jane Parkins, daughter of Samuel and "Polly" Wall Parkins in 1863. He would enlist into Ohio's 173rd Regiment, Co. C in 1864 that organized in Gallipolis, OH. Upon returning from the War William continued his farming occupation residing in both Jackson and Gallia Counties. He and Nancy would have six children that achieved adulthood. They were: Mary b. 1864, Dora b. 1867, S. Belle b. 1868, Wm. T. b. 1870, John M. b. 1874, and Geo. C. b. 1879. One daughter died in infancy and was interred in the Emory Cemetery. She was Nannie E. Seel b. 07/24/1872 and d. 03/26/1874. Her FAG memorial is # 81831083. William died in 1926 at the grand age of 94 years.
