Ann was the daughter of Garret Schenck and Jannetje Couwenhoven of Pleasant Valley, Monmouth County, New Jersy. She was married in Kings County, NY on 10 June 1763 (at the age of 15) to Jacques DeNyse. Two of Ann's brothers served during the American Revolutionary War, and one of them, John, was a captain, and has an extensive military and pension record.
