Heather "Sunny" Day
Heather "Sunny" Day, 40, passed away August 13, 2013 surrounded by her loving family after a six year courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Heather was born in Akron, Ohio and lived on North Hill most of her life. She was a graduate of Akron North High School, The University of Akron and a lifetime servant of the Girl Scouts USA. She was a proud member of Alpha Phi Sorority and Trinity United Church of Christ.
Heather always met you with a smile on her face and a sunny disposition. She had a beautiful heart and was a good friend to many. She also inspired and mentored many young girls through scouting. Heather was deeply devoted to her family, especially her little boy, Emmett. She loved reading and exploring nature; her favorite place in the world being Camp Ledgewood.
Heather was the recipient of the City of Akron Mayor's Community Service Award, the Girl Scout's Women of Distinction Award and will soon be featured on the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio's Wall of Fame.
Heather was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Harriet Huffman and Marjorie Talkington; and aunts, Linda Lyons and Judy Dixon. She is survived by her parents, John and Eva (Bruck) Day; sister and brother-in-law, Heidi (Day) and Eric Hall; niece and nephew, Lola and Luca; and adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron. Funeral service will be Saturday, 12 noon at Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St., Akron, directly across the street from the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio "Sunny Day" Scholarship Fund, C/O the funeral home.
