Col Thomas F. Dwyer served in the army during WW II and was attached as Batalion Surgeon to an Artillery Unit which waited at the Elbe River for the Russians to arrive before taking Berlin. He left active duty after the war in March 1946 with the rank of Captain. He stayed active in the Army Reserves for over 30 years attaining the rank of Colonel. He also served as Chief of Dental Service at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Providence, RI, giving up a very lucrative private practice in Providence.
