1958 July 27 Drowning
LAKE, RIVER TAKE 2 LIVES
Two Oregonians drowned Sunday [7/27/1958] when record numbers headed for the pools, rivers and beaches to escape the sizzling heat. The victims are Ronnie Hoffinger, 14 [b.c. 1944], 13629 SE Powell Blvd., Portland; and Henry Booth, 22, Roseburg.
Young Hoffinger drowned in the swimming enclosure at Blue Lake. Sheriff's deputies recovered his body at midnight.
The boy had been at the park with his mother, Mrs. Anne E. Hoffinger, who returned home in the late afternoon, thinking the boy had already gone home. When he failed to return by evening, she returned to the park to search for him. Deputies were notified when his clothing was found in the bath house.
Booth drowned…..
