Joan Jack Reynolds Leader

Joan Jack Reynolds Leader, 82, of Elkton, MD formerly of Rising Sun, MD and Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her home November 6, 2013. Born on July 27, 1931 in Rising Sun, Joan was the daughter of the late William Granville and Essie Hawley Reynolds.
She was a 1948 graduate of Rising Sun High School and attended a year at Goldey-Beacom College, during which time she met her husband Richard whom she married in 1950. Joan was a homemaker most of her adult life, but also worked for a time as a secretary and in recent years, worked in retail at the Back Creek General Store in Chesapeake City.
She also volunteered at Union Hospital for 30 years and was an active member of Elkton Presbyterian Church. She loved her home on Perch Creek and will be dearly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Richard R. Leader and his wife Nancy Andrew of Easton and John W. Leader and his wife Lesley of Hebron, MD; and two grandsons, Ben and Oliver; and her beloved cat Jack. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard C. Leader; two brothers, William and Horace Reynolds and a sister, Wanda Reynolds Devenney.
A Service honoring her life will be held at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church in Colora, MD On Wednesday November 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. where friends and family may call beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contribution checks may be made payable to Elkton Presbyterian Church and mailed to R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911.
