LYKENS - Joanne Elizabeth Herb, age 78, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born March 28, 1935 in Lykens, daughter of the late Leo and Irene Reitenbach Schmick and was also preceded in death by her husband, William T. Herb.
Joanne was a 1953 graduate of Lykens High School, employed for a number of years by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, a member of Lykens United Methodist Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by a son, Bradley Herb; 2 grandsons, Brent and Brock Herb; a great grandson, Brayden; a brother, Leo "Mike" Schmick; a sister, Patricia Yentach; and nieces and nephews.
Joanne was a three time survivor of cancer and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The American Cancer Society , 3211 North Front St., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to the Lykens United Methodist Church, 527 North Second St., Lykens, PA 17048.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, 406 Market St., Lykens, with Pastor Carl E. Slough officiating.
Interment in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.
Viewing will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
