Walter K. Layman, Jr., 81, of Hardin, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Junior was born on September 29, 1932 in Ray County, Missouri, to Walter K. Layman, Sr. and Hazel Esteleen (Morse) Layman. He married Ruby Maxine Glenn of Edmond, Oklahoma, on August 22, 1953. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2012.
Junior farmed for over forty years, before retiring in 1997. He also worked at the Ford Claycomo Plant and Lake City Arsenal.
He was a member of the U.A.W. Union local #249.
He was a United States Army Veteran. He had lived in the Hardin, Missouri, area most of his life. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Rex Layman, his fiancé, Alice Dotson and her children, Jess, Tyler and Katy Dotson of Norborne, Missouri; Rodney Layman and his wife, Michelle of Richmond, Missouri, one daughter, Brenda Casteel and husband, Ray of Norborne, Missouri; five grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Russell Miller, Rachelle Amery, Casey and Emily Layman, Ashley and Chris Green and Cassidy Layman;. Six great grandchildren also survive: Tyler Miller, Chase Layman, Ashton Layman, Ethan Woeffner, Wyatt Woeffner and Amber Sanders.
In addition to his parents and wife, Junior was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Ann Layman.
