Carole A. Awe, age 73, of 1219 Division St., Manitowoc, died on Monday afternoon,
April 12, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1936, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward J. and
Leona M. (Rosinsky) Rugowski. Carole attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On
Aug. 4, 1954, she married Howard E. Awe in Freeport, Illinois. He preceded her
in death on Oct. 9, 1996. Carole was employed as a clerk and cashier at the former
A & P, ABC Supermarket and JoAnn Fabrics for many years. She was a member of the
Manitowoc Senior Center and enjoyed bingo and sewing.
Survivors include a son: Steve Awe, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law:
Patricia and Richard Grimsley, Lexington, Tenn., Barbara and Brian Rathe, Kewaunee;
six grandchildren: Amber and Adam Awe, Richard Jr. and Randy Grimsley, David Van
Ginkel, Scott Dellemann; five great-grandchildren; and a sister: Luanne Duveneck,
Manitowoc. She was also preceded in death by two children: Pamela Susan Awe, Scott
David Awe; a brother: Kenneth Rugowski; a sister and brother-in-law: Phyllis and
Orville Kodet; and a brother-in-law: Robert Duveneck.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at The Pfeffer
Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with
burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
from 9 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, until 10:45 a.m.
