She was born on July 16, 1920 in Kiel, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Michels Dhein. Grace graduated from Kiel High School in 1936 and attended Miss Brown Secretarial School in Milwaukee. She lived and was employed the majority of her life in Washington D.C. and was the personal secretary for two Commissioners in Internal Revenue Service. After retirement, Grace was employed with the Missionhurst Missionaries. She moved to Appleton in 2001 to be closer to her family and was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Grace nurtured friendships wherever she went in life, with people young and old. She was profoundly generous. Grace's faith was the driving force of her life and she cared deeply for the poor children of the world. She lived her life with grace.
Grace is survived by her sisters: Genrose Miller, Kiel and Virginia Melvin Bartelt, Appleton; three nieces, a nephew, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Dhein, two nephews and a niece.
The funeral liturgy for Grace will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Father Norm Krutzik will be officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the Mass, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Kiel. The family will receive visitors at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
