WELCH, EDNA IRENE; of Waterford; age 86; went to be with her Savior on Easter Sunday. She died at Regent Street Assisted Living in West Bloomfield surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Edna was preceded in death by her son, Randy Joe, 54, and her husband Cecil Paul, 48. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Ann, of West Bloomfield, and her son Eddie Dean of Florida. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 4150 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. Visitation with the family begins at 10 a.m. A luncheon reception to celebrate Edna's long-lasting love and influence will follow the Memorial Service. Edna was born in DeSoto, Illinois on February 24, 1927, the only daughter to the late Joseph Francis and Amelia (Dietz) Alstat. She was preceded in death by all of her eight brothers. Edna was an involved and loving mother. She was an active member of Ascension and cherished her time with the Cover Girls sewing group. Edna worked on quilts each week until the ability to perform this beloved passion was taken away by Parkinson's Disease. Known as "Edie" to all those who knew her from her time working at Service Glass in Pontiac, she loved helping others and was a faithful servant to the Lord. At Edna's request, she will be cremated and her ashes buried alongside her devoted, departed son Randy at Crescent Hills Cemetery in Waterford.
