LeRoy E. Carlstrom Jr., 73, a retired aircraft mechanic, died at his Moscow home Oct. 30 of a heart attack.

He was born April 11, 1925, to LeRoy E. Carlstrom Sr. and Thelma Frye at Kendrick. He grew up in the Gifford-Ruebens area and attended Tammany Creek school. He later attended St. Joseph's Mission School at Mission Creek.

He graduated from Idaho State College at Pocatello in 1956. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and served from 1942 to 1945 in the South Pacific.

He married Phyllis L. Johns July 27, 1948, at Lewiston. They divorced in January 1977.

He worked in logging from 1945 to 1955. He spent most of his life in Lewiston and worked as an aircraft mechanic from 1956 to 1972. He also worked for the Lewiston Fire Department from 1965 to 1968. He retired in 1972.

He enjoyed rockhounding, photography, flying, hunting, fishing and bicycling.

One brother, Dick Albright, died previously.
