I am NOT related to the Mains but live in a home built in 1832 by Benjamin Martin. Benjamin was married to Margaret Wright and Rebecca Wright Main was her younger sister. When I moved into this old home in the early 80's I was immediately drawn into wanting to know the history. Long story short: The Martin family owned this property for over 100 years and were such a part of building this neighborhood that I began a "House Genealogy" I was invited to the Martin Family reunions and was affectionately referred to as their House Sister.
Rebecca was not Timothy's first wife: His first wife was Isabel (MN either McClure or Rouse) and she died leaving two children: Timothy and Jacob. Tradition is that Jacob was born crippled and Timothy's mother Hannah was helping to raise these children. She hired a 14 year old from her church to assist her with toddler Jacob. That 15 year old was Rebecca Wright. Timothy & Rebecca were married about 3 years later. Their first child was named Isabel in honor of Jacob's mother. Jacob died in 1828.
