I cannot remember not being interested in my family's history.

It is important to preserve our family history and this is a great site for doing just that. One of the ways I preserve our history is adding a new marker in front of the old illegible tombstones and marking unmarked graves.

I am a member of Colonial Dames 17th Century , Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Henderson County NC Genealogical and Historical Society, and SC State Archives.

In 2001 I completed a book on Holston Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The project started with my cousin, Margaret Metcalf Foster and I surveying the cemetery. After seeing how many graves were unmarked in the cemetery and knowing that many of these people were related to me, I decided to find out who they were. Working five years in five funeral homes, I was able to identify and mark 100 graves at Holston Creek Baptist Cemetery. When available, I added parents, spouse, and full birth and death dates to each person buried there in the cemetery book. Later, I entered all the names on Findagrave from this cemetery. As time permits, I am linking the people and adding more information about them. Since this is my project and I am related to many of the people buried here, I am not interested in transferring them. Thanks for understanding.

At the present time, I am doing a book on James and Ann Cole Johnson and their children all the way down to the present. It is the most time consuming project I have ever done. Please get in touch with me if you are a descendant and would like to be included in this book.
