Paul R. Ward, Sr., 82, of Edinburg, Virginia, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond, VA.

Paul was born May 26, 1931 in Rockingham County, Virginia, son of the late Harry and Gurney Anthony Ward. He was a United States Marine, serving in Korea. He also served in the United States Army and Civil Service. Paul was a welder and owner of Ward's Welding.

Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deann; two daughters, Tina Baker (Travis) and Patricia Haycock (Daniel), all of Edinburg; two sons, Paul Ward, Jr. (Jennifer) , Green Bay, VA and Michael Ward (Lisa), Edinburg; ten grandchildren, Lindsey, Morgan, David, Jamie, Shane, Tony, Danielle, Angela, Adam and Sam, and 11 great grandchildren, three sisters, Mary Golladay, Edinburg, Novella Rankin, Waynesboro, and Betty Prosper, PA; one brother, Ray Ward, Edinburg.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Funeral service officiated by Pastor Bryan Duncan will be at 2 pm, Thursday, November 7, at Valley Funeral Chapel, 14116 S. Middle Rd, Edinburg, VA. Burial will follow at the Union Forge UMC Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Ward, David Dodson, Jamie Dodson, Justin Bowman, Timmy Smoot and Gary Clark.

The family will receive friends from 7-8pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
