Mrs. Smith died Sunday afternoon in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
Mrs. Smith was employed in the kitchens at Sunset Lodge, Norwood, and the Village Inn and Highland Nursing Home, both in Massena. She was also employed at Norfolk Paper Mill.
Born May 27, 1918, in Bangor, daughter of Carlos and Martha Jandreau Martin, she attended schools in Norwood and Norfolk. She married Clifford J Smith on May 16, 1939, at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lewis McConnell officiating. Mr. Smith died May 24, 1980.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 925 Auxiliary, where she received an outstanding achievement award. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Surviving are a son, Allen, Norwood; two daughters, Marie Bombard and Evelyn Smith, both of Norfolk; two half brothers, Alex Deshane, North Stockhollm and Cecil Deshane, Winthrop; two half sisters, Veva Kelly, Winthrop, and Georgina Moody, Norfolk; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Leonard Martin, four sisters, Lillian Deshane, Margaret M Ward, Elsie Arquette and Caroline Martin, a stepbrother, Robert Deshane, two half brothers, Francis and Peter Deshane, and two half sisters, Betty and Beverly Deshane, died before her.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
