Our loving mother, wife, grandmother, and daughter, Jan Kay Bell, went to be with our Savior Jesus Christ on the night of December 27, 2011, at 9:30 P.M. at the age of 73. She went peacefully on her couch and now suffers no pain.
Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur.
Jan was born July 6, 1938, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Gloyd and Louise (Lape) Archey. She was married to Charles (Charlie) D. Bell on November 8, 1959. They had 52 wonderful years together and shared far too much for this short prose. Jan attended Maroa High School and graduated in 1956. She retired from State Farm in 2001, after 20 years of service. Jan loved to watch football. She liked the Bears, but liked Drew Brees of the Saints as well. He was a Purdue boy, and mom loved Purdue. She was very organized and kept us apprized of what appointments we needed to make. She also enjoyed her many pictures of family and friends, and loved her antiques and knick-knacks. She really enjoyed collecting patriotic items.
Jan is survived by her husband, Charles Bell of Bethany; mother, Louise of Clinton; son, Chuck of Bethany; daughter, Amy (Kevin) of Austin, TX; brother, Gary (Sandy) of Clinton; grandchildren, Haley, Kevin, Jeff, and Aaron; great grandchild, Madi.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1968, and her son Bradley in 2007.
We, the family, thank God she was spared the pain of lung cancer and is now in the presence of our Lord. We are very thankful to God for her presence during this Christmas. We know this was a special gift.
She will be sorely missed and will be remembered for the love she shared and the light of life that she brought to so many. She was a rich woman. Rich in friends, and rich in family.
