Services for Minnie Balser, 93, were held Monday, Feb. 8, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. The Revs. Leawood Monte and Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated at the services.
Minnie Balster of Scotch Grove, died Friday, Feb. 5, in her home following an extended illness.
Hermine Margaretha Hedden was born Aug. 28, 1899 on a farm near Scotch Grove, the daughter of Henry J. and Marie Husmann Hedden. She received her education in the rural schools near her home.
Minnie Hedden and Arend Balster, Jr. were married December 12, 1917 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in San Diego, Calif., while he was in service. The couple returned to Scotch Grove in 1918 to resume the operation of Balster Implement and Parts Company Mrs. Balster participated in the operation of the business for many year, Mr. Balster preceded her in death on October 27, 1976.
Mrs. Balster was an active member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, a member of the ELCW and a member of the quilting group.
Survivors include a son, Les of Scotch Grove; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Casket bearers were James Stadtmueller, Robert Buol, Roy Folkerts, Dale Mueller, Yorgos Zazas, Dr. David Balster, Steve Balster and Ron Ketelsen.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
