Solon M. Dow, 85 year old Hampshire resident who retired from Kane county board of supervisors in the spring of 1939 after serving as supervisor from Hampshire township for a period of 16 years, died at his home at 1:30 Sunday afternoon following a brief illness.
Mr. Dow was born in South Stratford, Vt., July 30, 1856, and spent most of his lifetime in the vicinity of Hampshire. He served on the school board there several years. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Higgins. Surviving Mrs. Henry Schneider of Hampshire; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
