Died, at her home in this city, on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1899, Mrs. Sarah Lawton Jones.
The deceased was born in Lancashire, England, Aug. 1, 1833, and came to America in the summer of 1841. On Aug. 24, 1853 she was united in marriage to Paul Jones, who died in this city in Feb. 1897. In Nov. 1877, she removed from Shullsburg, with her husband and family, to Mineral Point, settling on the farm where she lived until five years ago, when, with her husband, she removed to this city. For the past year she had been a great sufferer, and for months it was plainly evident that the end was not far off.
Three sons and three daughters survive her, Jos. W. of Madison, Nebr., Jas. E. of Meriden, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah Blackburn of Shullsburg, A.P. Jones and Mrs. Alice I. Hosken of Mineral Point, and Mrs. Annie L. Grange of Darlington.
There are also seventeen grandchildren living, six of whom are the daughters of Mrs. George Grange who died several years ago. Two sisters and a brother also survive her, and numerous other relatives in Illinois and Pennsylvania. Mrs. Jones was a good Christian woman, highly respected by all who knew her.
