JOSEPH ZABLER JR.
Joseph Zabler Jr., age 87, died Thursday, May 11, 2006
He was born March 19, 1919, and was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1937. He married Joyce Marie Jacquart in 1943. Joe was a graphic artist for most of his life, working for JAG Outdoor Advertising in Algoma for 32 years. He was also a portrait and poster painter for Fox Theatres and later the Capitol Civic Center. Many of his posters featuring portraits of the stars are on display in the Green Room of the Capitol Civic Centre. Joe was an avid fly fisherman and spent many happy hours fishing with his father. He became involved in the drum corp activity in the 1970's, and was on the board of directors of the Royal Knights of Manitowoc and Marquis of Fond du Lac.
His wife, Joyce, preceded him in death in 1988. He is survived by two daughters: Constance M. (John) Hamachek of Manitowoc, and Cathy L. (Eldon) Galloway of Mountain View, Ark.; four sons: Joseph (Dori) Zabler III, Michael J. Zabler, and Gregory J. (Beverly) Zabler, all of Manitowoc; and Robert D. Zabler of New Orleans, La.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his special friend Virginia Gorecki.
He was much loved by his family and many friends.
Joe's body is being donated to the University Hospital in Madison. Therefore, there will be no viewing, but the family will receive visitors in the Relief Society Room at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, 4105 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until the memorial services commence.
