Bobby Ray Goldsmith, age 82, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Olney with Kelly Russell, pastor, of First Baptist Church of Vernon, Texas officiating, assisted by Chad Edgington, pastor, of First Baptist Church of Olney. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Bobby was born December 12, 1930 in Olney, Texas to the late Robert M. and Verna (Young) Goldsmith. Bobby met the love of his life, Mary Lou Bracey, in 1946. They were married on November 12, 1948 in Farwell, Texas. Together for sixty-five years, they raised a family based on love and Christian values. His greatest treasures were his family, church and friends. His mission in life was to leave a lasting legacy of life lessons, memories, and love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His eternal goal was to be united with many family and friends awaiting him in heaven. Bobby was better known to his family as husband, daddy, and Papa.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of Olney. He managed and operated grain elevators in Olney and surrounding areas for forty-seven years. He worked at First Baptist Church for twenty-three years, and as a Police Officer for the City of Olney. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Olney, a retired member of the Olney Volunteer Fire Department, and past chairman of the Board of the Knot-Hole Gang.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Milo, Billy, R.V., and Freddy; and six sisters: Oleta, Juanita, Beatrice, Wanda, Wilma, and Peggy.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Goldsmith of Olney, Texas; four daughters: Jannie Lou Snody and husband Gary, Barbara Cowart and husband Ronnie, Susan Piercy and husband Bryon, all of Olney, and Jo Ann Larimore and husband Stephen of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren: Brad Snody and wife Melissa, Kandace Nash and husband Michael, Jennifer Vogler and husband Seth, Josh Cowart, Kristin Crawford and husband Chris, Sharla Larimore, Andrea Larimore, Justin Piercy, and Kolton Piercy; eight great-grandchildren: Travis Foster, Seth Nash, Crayton Nash, Easton Nash, Sloane Vogler, Cooper Crawford, Caleb Crawford, and Kaden White.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
